Bruny Island Wildlife Tours

Imagine visiting five waterways in one single day. Imagine you’re in Hobart one minute, seeing dolphins and seals the next.
Hop on board your 26 seater eco wildlife explorer vessel in the centre of Hobart next to Salamanca market and embark on the journey of a lifetime. Travelling at a cruising speed of 25-30 knots, your 11.3 custom made vessel will head for the southern tip of Bruny Island.
You’ll start a fantastic journey along the Derwent River and the beautiful homes of Hobart.
Then your skipper and crew members will take you from the Derwent River into Storm Bay, past the Iron Pot, Australia’s second oldest lighthouse, also an old whaling station.

From Storm Bay, the scenery becomes more and more spectacular as you enter the Tasman Sea and the Southern Ocean. One the way home, if weather permits, you’ll get to journey back up the D’entre Casteaux Channel after circumnavigating Bruny island, 180 kilometres in total!
You’ll get the chance to see a whole range of wildlife including:
- Dolphins
- A huge seal colony
- Sea Eagles
- Wedge Tail Eagles
- Albatross
- Fairy Penguins
- Sharks (hopefully not!)
- Whales …but only in winter

This region is home to:
- Australia’s second highest seacliffs.
- The famous Totem Pole, officially known as Monument Rock.
- Breathing Rock
- A huge seal colony with 8000 Australian and New Zealand Fur Seals
